How a cut here goes

Walk in, or book ahead

Four steps, door to door — and the four things people ask us on the phone, answered before you dial.

01

Walk in

Our window says WALK-INS WELCOME and it means it. No account, no deposit, no waiting on a callback. If you’d rather lock in a time, we take bookings on Booksy — but you never have to.

02

Take a chair

Our chairs are numbered, and regulars ask by number as readily as by name. Zaya is chair four. That’s the point of it: come back to the same hands instead of hoping.

03

Get the line

The fade is the name over our door, and the shape-up is the part people come back for. Bring a photo if you have one — nobody here is offended by a reference picture.

04

Cash out

Every price here is the price. One honest catch, said now rather than at the register: we are cash only, and there’s an ATM inside for the times you forget.

Beard work

The line is the whole job

Seventeen of our reviews mention the beard trim by name. A beard is a shape before it’s a length — the cheek line, the neck line, and where the two meet decide whether it reads sharp or just long.

  • $20 on its own, 25 minutes — trim, shape and both lines.
  • $50 with the cut, 50 minutes — cut and beard in the same sitting.
  • $20 to colour it — matched to the hair above it, not two shades off.

The work

Every one of these walked out of our shop

Fades, tapers, beards, kids and freehand designs. Recent work, straight off our camera roll.

Who’s behind the chairs

Ask for a person, not just a haircut

Regulars here don’t ask for a haircut. They ask for a person. Zaya is chair four. Ashor is the owner. Ask by name or by number and you get the same hands next time.

What 458 people said

The number is 4.6, and here’s the shape of it

The whole picture, not the flattering half. Thirty-six people left one star. Four hundred and twenty-two did not.

Been a client of Ashor’s since before he opened his own shop here on Dempster. 15 years of staying fresh, and he is still the best in the game.

Google review · Skokie

What stood out most to me was how much they value customer satisfaction. The owner was welcoming, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure a positive experience. That level of care is hard to find and is why I’ll be returning.

Ammar Khan · Google

Quick cut, only 15 minutes. Looked great — thank you Zaya.

A whole ball team lined up along our front window. Eighty-eight of our reviews use the words “friendly staff” and thirteen say “welcoming atmosphere.” This is what those numbers look like on a Saturday.

  • Kids welcome — curly tapers, fades, the lot.
  • Free parking in the Eastgate Plaza lot, right out front.
  • Wi-Fi while you wait.
  • A full row of chairs, so the Saturday line keeps moving.

Before you come in

The questions we get asked most

Do I need an appointment at Ashor’s Fade?

No. We’re a walk-in shop and the door says so. A full row of chairs keeps the line moving. If you want one barber in particular, call (847) 329-0721 first and we’ll tell you what the wait looks like — or book a time on Booksy, where we hold a 5.0 across 173 reviews.

How much is a haircut at Ashor’s Fade?

A haircut is $30 and takes about 30 minutes. A haircut with the beard is $50 over 50 minutes. A beard on its own is $20. The full package is $70 over seventy minutes. Eyebrows are $10, and ear or nose waxing is $8. Those are our prices.

Does Ashor’s Fade take credit cards?

We’re cash only. There’s an ATM inside by the door if you arrive without it.

How long does a haircut take?

About thirty minutes for a cut and fifty for a cut and beard. A quick tidy-up can be fifteen. Add waiting time at busy hours.

Can I ask for a specific barber?

Yes, and regulars do — by name or by chair number. Zaya works chair four. Ashor is the owner. Sargon, John and Mike are also behind the chairs. Call ahead and we’ll tell you who’s in.

Do you cut kids’ hair?

Yes. Kids are welcome and cut properly — curly tapers, fades, first cuts and everything either side of them.

Where do I park?

We’re in Eastgate Plaza at 3443 Dempster Street, with a free lot directly in front of the door.

How long is the wait at Ashor’s Fade?

It depends on the hour. A full row of chairs keeps the line moving, but there can still be a wait at busy times. Call (847) 329-0721 and we’ll tell you straight, or book a slot on Booksy and skip it.

Can I book Ashor’s Fade online?

Yes. We take appointments through Booksy, where we hold a 5.0 across 173 reviews. You never have to book — walk in and take the next chair — but the option is there if your day is tight.

Are you open on Sunday?

No. We’re open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed Sundays.
